St. Mary Catholic Faith Community

The Columbarium

From earliest times, people have desired a final earthly resting place near the gathering space of their families  - wanting to be held in lasting, loving remembrance. In response to interest from parishioners and in recognition of the growing trend toward cremation, St. Mary Catholic Faith Community is building a Columbarium.

The purpose of the columbarium is to provide a final resting place on Parish grounds that is consecrated, dignified and reverent. The columbarium will provide an environment in which family and friends may gather for prayer and remembrance of those who have preceded us in death.

You may now reserve a space in the first phase of The Columbarium by purchasing a niche. Each niche is able to hold up to two urns. Pre-sale of niches, purchasing niches prior to construction, provides funding for The Columbarium constructions, as well as improvements to the existing cemetery including new fencing, gates and pillars.

Construction of the Columbarium provides many benefits to parishioners including:

  • A beautiful way to memorialize a loved one.
  • A theologically sound and environmentally friendly choice.
  • A convenient, comforting location for family members to honor deceased loved ones.
  • A stunning memorial design that includes beautification of the St. Mary Cemetery.

The construction and perpetual maintenance of the Columbarium is funded by the pre-sale of niches. The Columbarium is not funded by the St. Mary Parish operating budget or other reserves.

Construction of The Columbarium is anticipated to take place in 2011, after project funding is secured and final approval from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is received.
