St. Mary Catholic Faith Community

Community Life

Young at Heart

The St. Mary's Young at Heart group was created in 1995 to provide social and educational opportunities for mature adults, enhance member health and wellness, and promote activities which may result in earnings for the group and our Faith Community.

Activities are defined in a quarterly newsletter, and include day trips, picnics, plays, concerts, dinners, etc.

Fund Raising Gift Card Program, (Scrip) Parish Fund Raising

Gift cards for a variety of local businesses can be purchased in the Parish Office or Communication Center. St. Mary earns a percentage of gift card value for every card sold.

Fish Fry

The St. Mary's Fish Fry is a community event that is held on the first Friday of the month in October, November, December, February, March, April and the Friday of the Festival in July.

To learn more about becoming a fish fry volunteer or about baking a dessert for the fish fry, contact Kris Borkenhagen at 414-425-7805 or skbork@mac.com

Gathering Space Events

Occasionally, St. Mary's Gathering Space is used for special events that require volunteers to host, setup, and serve food and beverages.

For further information contact Jim and Karen Bain at 414-529-4577 or jbain@wi.rr.com.

Scouting

Both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are strong programs offered at St. Mary Parish. Scouting provides our youth with opportunities to learn about themselves, responsibility, community service, the great outdoors, and much more. Scouting is offered for girls in grades K through 8 and boys in grades 1 through 8.

Parish Festival Committee

The Parish Festival is held annually in July. Its purpose is twofold: to raise money for the parish, and more importantly, to bring parishioners together in a spirit of community and cooperative effort.

The Parish Festival Committee consists of a festival director and event chairpersons for the individual events. The festival director position can consist of more than one person. The director supports and coordinates all the activities with event chairpersons. The event chairperson is responsible for all aspects of the individual events (ie., staffing, supplies, etc). The committee meets several times a year, starting after the first of the year and through June.

Volunteers are needed each year to staff the booths, tents, games, and other activities surrounding the festival. Volunteering at the festival provides an excellent opportunity for parishioners to get involved, to meet others in the community, and to experience the rewards of doing something for the parish.

Athletics Association graphicAthletic Association

We welcome all parish member children to participate in recreational and competitive sports through the Parkview Parochial League. Grades 5-8 are co-ed soccer, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, and co-ed track. Soccer for grades 1-4 is recreational. Go Royals!

Volunteers organize the athletic program for the children of St. Mary Parish. The Athletic Association meets once a month and is made up of over 20 members. Each member supervises sporting events in the St. Mary Gym several times per sport season. If you enjoy watching sports and working with children, there are numerous opportunities for any skill set.

For more information, please see the Athletics page on the School web site.

Please Note: Adults serving Children and Youth in this ministry need to go through the Safeguarding All God’s Family training.
