Parish Council Meeting Minutes - 9/10/2003

Meeting called to order by Tim Pilat at 7:00pm.

Review & Approval of the Minutes
The minutes for the Parish Council meeting on August 12, 2003 were reviewed and approved as modified.

Prayer and Reflection
We read and discussed Mark: 7: 31 - 37. Father Art led us in blessing at the new font and gave a special blessing.

Island of Hope: We viewed a video viewing the first two examples of a parish in Oregon and a ministry in Texas from The Island Of Hope.

Parish Assessment & Renewal
All members present gave their negative views and positive views on using the Tom Sweetser assessment team. Then each member gave his or her reason for being in favor of or against using this team. There were three positive and thirteen negative opinions. A short discussion ensued after which consensus was arrived at not to use this team at this time. (Attached is a copy of the newspaper recordings of this discussion).

Revitalization Ad Hoc Committee Reports
Communications Committee Report: Please take your forms in the packet of information mailed, to your next committee meeting, having them completed, so communication trifolds can be created for each committee.

Visioning Document: Pam Lownik is in the process of creating a Christian Formation Committee according to archdiocesan plans. More meetings are scheduled and plans are starting to be formulated.

Revitalization/Dedication: As the Dedication of Sunday September 28th approaches; the plans are in their final stages. Thanks to all the folks who helped and supported this upcoming event!

Youth report
Andrea Holmes reported on some of the activities, which the youth ministry has been active in. They had a successful school supply drive, the school formations are in full swing, the confirmation sessions have begun, another mission trip to Pine Ridge Reservation is scheduled, volleyball is to begin soon and focus training plus theology on tap is scheduled.

Pastor's report
The new school year is under way with 409 students in our school. In the new church and school, some fine-tuning of systems is taking place. Phase I, the new church, is near completion, Phase II is starting and will be completed in February/March timeframe. A loss of greater than $55,000 for the fiscal year 2002-2003 was reported. Father Art expressed great THANKS for all the help and support he received in preparation for the church dedication.
